Our client is seeking an experienced BDM focused on employer engagement for AEB, traineeships and Apprenticeships

The Business Development Manager's job description

  1. Generating new course enquiries
  2. Conducting training needs requirement meetings  
  3. Maintaining fruitful relationships with existing employers


When it comes to generating course enquiries, day-to-day duties typically include:

  • Promoting courses online (especially on social media) to identify new leads and potential new markets
  • Contacting companies who may require their staff to be trained
  • Contacting potential clients via email or phone to establish rapport and set up IAG meetings
  • Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives
  • Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events


When it comes to the challenge of actually selling, other typical duties include:

  • Ability to spot and develop opportunities
  • Developing quotes and proposals
  • Negotiating and renegotiating by phone, email, and in person
  • Developing sales goals for the team and ensuring they are met
  • Skills North East’s USP’s to clients and applicants
  • Conducting telephone & face to face interviews with learners


Job Requirements

To be an effective business development executive, an individual must be:

  • Socially adept
  • An understanding of Social Media
  • Able to self-motivate and deliver to sales targets
  • Creative talents and the ability to solve tough problems
  • The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organisation
  • Knowledge of the Adult Education market, recruitment or employer engagement experience would be an advantage 
  • Proven track record of achieving KPI’s
