Our client, an engineering company supplying sheet metal and machined components to the global aerospace industry.  Supply both engine and airframe parts (military and passenger) to prestigious companies such as Rolls-Royce, Airbus, GE, Pratt & Whitney, Bombardier and many more.

 

The ideal candidate for this job role will:

 

  • Be well organised, proactive and have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy

 

  • Be customer focused, being part of our team who thrive on customer satisfaction

 

  • Have excellent communication skills with the supply chain and internal departments

 

  • Have good understanding of Microsoft Excel including the use of basic formulas and IT proficient

 

  • Have a level of education equivalent to A-Levels, or higher

 

Your New Role

 

As Purchasing Officer (Aerospace Raw Materials), you will be part of the Commercial team performing an important role within the company, procuring raw materials and ensuring that they are delivered on time to support the manufacture of our parts into the global aerospace industry.

 

In order to achieve the above objective, you will be carrying out the following activity:

 

Planning the requirements of raw materials to support the manufacture of 4000 components from 700 different material codes.

 

Sending enquiries to suppliers to locate materials and get prices (for non-contract materials), and challenge price and deliveries if necessary

Raise and update Purchase Orders for the purchase of sheet/coil, bar, nuts/rivets and castings/forgings

Expedite POs to ensure on-time delivery and update system with expedite comments, and feedback to Production Department as required.

Attend or host meetings with existing or potential suppliers

Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs - eg. supplier delivery performance)

We currently employ 150 people and are forecasting a sales turnover of £18m for 2021, and £22m for 2022.
