Transport Manager

£25,000 - £28,000

Job Description

 

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of drivers and the routing for a fleet of waste vehicles on waste collection And washroom service operations.

Give work instructions and monitor the performance of drivers i.e. briefing/debriefing during the working day. You will also be involved with the admin aspects of the position, ensuring all paperwork is accurately completed.

You will ensure the vehicles and drivers work within all transport legislation. Booking vehicle service and MOT. Ensuring that all health and safety policies are complied with.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

transport / distribution background preferable either as a manager or a supervisor looking to progress. Waste Management experience would be a significant advantage for this role.

 

Your key responsibilities will include;

 

  • Full responsibility for all operational activities within the business including waste management, washroom services and the transport fleet
  • Leading, developing and motivating the service team and monitoring performance
  • Ensuring equipment and tooling are kept in good working order
  • Identify and lead process improvement projects
  • Ensuring Health and Safety processes and procedures are followed

 

Experience required

 

A transport/distribution background preferable either manager or a supervisor looking to progress. Waste management experience would be a significant advantage for this role.

Experience planning for and managing drivers essential IOSH/NEBOSH also considered an advantage.

 

You will have excellent planning skills and a good understanding of compliance. You will be extremely committed and have stability in previous roles. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication and organisation skills, as well as logistics experience.

An excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the enthusiasm to embrace and help implement a new software for the company.

Managerial experience within the waste management, haulage or construction industries

Extensive knowledge of Health and Safety Requirements

A logical and methodical approach with good analytical and practical skills

Good commercial awareness.
