Aim of Role:
To purchase & procure products and components as & when required by the business & to ensure stock levels are kept sufficient to ensure production flows efficiently.
Hours of Work:
Procurement and general management of component supply-chains to enable manufacture of the Company’s products.
Procurement and general management of end product supply-chains.
identification and evaluation of suppliers capable of supporting the Company’s business requirements in the areas of Quality, Cost, Delivery, Financial Health and Technical Capability. In the UK and abroad.
Obtain and evaluate quotations, negotiate price, terms and conditions and prepare contracts.
Exercise judgement and knowledge of commodities to make purchases consistent with all business requirements.
Work with cross-functional teams on a variety of projects where procurement is required.
Anticipate and mitigate any supply-chain disruptions.
Employ efficient replenishment techniques such as Kanban and operate Pull/ ROP systems.
Watch the relevant currency exchanges/ commodity prices to help mitigate price increase requests and to request cost reductions from suppliers where appropriate.
Observe at all times the business code of conduct “Do the Right Thing”.
Perform role in accordance with all relevant quality standards and adhere to all relevant processes / policies within the GMS.
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety / Environmental and Welfare requirements.
Ensure general housekeeping requirements are adhered to.
Travel around the UK and abroad (mainly China) will be required on occasion.
Education & Qualifications:
- G.C.S.E or equivalent Math’s and English.
- CIPS qualification & membership (gained or working towards).
Job Specific Training:
- Knowledge & ability to use MRP.
- Understanding of currency fluctuations & the impact to the business.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Must be a confident communicator.
- Experience in a similar role.
- Experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands on materials background moving into a purchasing role.
- Intermediate/Advanced PC knowledge. Clean UK driving license.
