Job Title:              Transport Planner

Location:              Halesowen

Salary:                   £26k

Hours:                   10am-8pm

 

Our client is looking to recruit a Transport planner to work in a very busy transport office ensuring customer requirements are met within given timescales, effectively organising and controlling a team of drivers and vehicles.

 

Role includes:

  • Ensuring customer requirements are met
  • Routing vehicles to ensure all loads are planned correctly
  • Dealing with clients regarding checking estimated time of arrivals to arranging delivery schedules, costings and forward planning
  • Keep track of next day volume to determine drivers and vehicles required for the following day
  • Preparing driver and agency list for compliance office for the following day
  • Ensure all vehicles are locked in and out, downloaded
  • Ensure no damage on arrival and exit of hire vehicles plus straps and equipment have been removed
  • Transferring remaining consignments to the daily traffic planning sheet and book consignment documents from the previous day
  • Ensure all routine vehicle checks are undertaken and defect system followed
  • Check with garage that all vehicles are available to be used in line with schedule
  • Ensure all weekly vehicle service/MOT requirements are met
  • Ensure drivers hours and working time directive is adhered to at all times
  • Ensure all agency drivers are inducted as per company procedure
  • Ensure that all drivers have followed H & S procedures when loading goods and there are no damages or potential damages
  • Dealing with incidents ie motor fleet, goods in transit or injury. Ensure details are collated and incident reported in line with company procedure
  • Report and complete any unsafe occurrences through the reporting system
  • General data and invoicing administration 

 

As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:

  • Pallet track network /multidrop experience is essential
  • Certificate of professional competence in National Road Haulage (desirable)
  • Excellent client management skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to use IT packages (desirable Vigo/Stirling)
  • Excellent geographical knowledge
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Good people management and coordination skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the transport industry
