Overview: We are currently looking for a Tax Manager to join a well-established and niche accountancy firm. As a Tax Manager, you will work closely with clients to manage complex tax matters, provide expert advice, and ensure the smooth coordination of services. You will also play a key role in managing a portfolio of clients and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle complex tax matters and provide clear, concise advice to clients.
- Work directly with clients to understand their specific needs and requirements.
- Identify areas where additional detailed advice may be necessary and ensure that it is provided promptly.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Accounts, Business Management, Payroll) to ensure client affairs are well-coordinated and delivered on time.
- Identify opportunities for offering additional services to clients and liaise with subject matter specialists to provide relevant solutions.
- Manage HMRC inquiries on behalf of clients, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
- Take responsibility for the management of a portfolio of clients, ensuring full compliance with tax regulations.
- Provide guidance and assistance to junior team members, fostering their growth and development.
- Manage billing for clients within your portfolio, ensuring timely and accurate debt collection.
- Participate in internal tax technical training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
Attributes & Requirements:
- A professional qualification (CTA or equivalent) is essential. A private client background would be advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment, managing workloads and meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong technical tax research skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to clients.
- Experience in reviewing self-assessment tax returns.
- Excellent organisational skills to manage time, monitor charges, and maintain budgets effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining a high level of technical knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated and able to apply relevant skills to new challenges.
- Capable of working under pressure with accuracy and focus.
