Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Transport Planner to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, optimizing, and managing the daily transportation schedule to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of goods. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of logistics, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Route Planning: Develop and optimize transport schedules to ensure timely delivery of goods while maximizing efficiency.
• Vehicle Allocation: Assign appropriate vehicles to transport routes based on load requirements, location, and delivery timeframes.
• Liaison with Drivers and Clients: Act as the key point of contact for drivers and customers, providing updates on delivery times and addressing any issues that arise.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all transportation activities adhere to relevant health and safety regulations, and that vehicles comply with legal requirements (e.g., vehicle maintenance, driver hours).
• Cost Control: Monitor transportation costs, manage budgets, and seek ways to reduce operational expenses without compromising service quality.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of transport schedules, fuel usage, and driver hours. Prepare reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Problem Solving: Proactively identify potential delivery issues and implement effective solutions to mitigate disruptions.
• Fleet Management Support: Work closely with the Fleet Manager to ensure optimal vehicle availability and assist in the maintenance scheduling process.

Requirements:
• Experience: Proven experience in transport planning, logistics, or a similar role.
• Strong analytical and organisational skills.
• Proficiency in transport planning software (e.g., Paragon, RoadRunner) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to handle pressure and make quick decisions.
