Job Title: Regional Fleet Engineering Manager

Location: South England Territories, remotely based.

Hours: Commensurate with the position of your role within the organisation, you will be required to adopt a flexible approach to the hours worked and which may be necessary for the proper performance of your duties. The basic contractual hours will be 37.5 hours per week, with an unpaid lunch break of half an hour per day, the working pattern is any 5 days from 7 basis.

Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Regional Fleet Engineering Manager to manage the performance and compliance of the Fraikin 3rd party maintenance & repair network in a complaint, cost effective, efficient manner in order to meet the operational requirements of the business and customers. 

Manage the engineering and supplier maintenance cycle in regard to maintenance costs and quality standards in line with legislative, budget and manufacturer recommendations.

Responsibilities 

General

  • Adhere to all statutory requirement regarding fire, health, safety and hygiene.
  • Participate in cross / multi skilled training within your department or other departments as deemed appropriate by your manager.
  • Carry out any reasonable instruction as directed by a manager [or Director].
  • Deal with all internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of dress and appearance at all times adhering to PPE where the role requires this
  • Attend any training sessions as requested and adhere to all company regulations.
  • From time to time you may be required to carry out duties outside the normal sphere of work as may be reasonably requested by Management.

Job Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Leading and developing the Field Engineering Team agreeing objectives to ensure service levels and KPI’s are met and exceeded within the network and a national targeted network is in place for all business requirements.
  • Regular team communication and review meetings.
  • Managing headcount and resources, including recruitment · Review performance and costs status of third-party, implement and manage corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain a tiered 3rd Party Network. 
  • Managing commercial agreements, including parts costings review.
  • Align to Work with Regional CS team(s) inFSC, to ensure throughput of work in all networks.
  • Ensure all third party and mobiles meet customer requirements and expectations.
  • Roll out agreements and trading terms to 3rd Party Network and ensure consistent ongoing management.
  • Implement plans to achieve business objectives and with effective delegation of responsibilities, monitor and appraise employee performance, objectives and assess training requirements.
  • Investigate repair failing and any compliance issue, including MOT fails in the Network.
  • Improving quality service standards by implementing continual process and system improvements to meet objectives within financial budgets, across networks.
  • Working with industry bodies to ensure correct operation and legal compliance.
  • Build company image by communicating with service agents and enforcing best business practices and goals within the external network.
  • Ensure due diligence checks have taken place and all areas are compliant.
  • Provide technical engineering support to all business areas and customers as and when required.
  • Drive the External Suppliers to use FraikinVIEW to allow better cost control and compliance adherence.
  • Ensure that all warranty and policy/goodwill claims are raised and pursued to completion.
  • Manage manufacturers recall requirements.
  • Engage with vehicle & equipment manufacturers regarding vehicle in-service problems and agree resolution plans.
  • Contribute to the identification of areas for continual improvement (efficiency/ cost saving/ HSE) and develop solutions to deliver such. This will include proposing and implementing (by agreement) new work practices and procedures.
  • Participate in any Engineering change management projects as necessary.
  • Participate in the development of tender responses if required.
  • In conjunction with the appropriate procurement manager to select the appropriate maintenance providers required to fulfil the operational needs of the business.
  • Undertake new supplier evaluation and to make recommendations on acceptance into Fraikin maintenance network.
  • Own the day-to-day external maintenance provider relationship nationally, regionally or customer on behalf of Fraikin UK.
  • Provide feedback on maintenance provider performance levels to Fraikin U.K. and to attend contract review meetings where required.
  • Support the reduction in levels of vehicle downtime through exceptional proactive management of issues regarding maintenance provision.
  • Ensure that data used and held within Fraikin systems is continually reviewed and correct to enable correct ordering procedures.
  • Creating monthly, quarterly, annual reports highlighting performance against objectives and budgets.

 Person Specification 

  • Previous experience in managing vehicle Engineers / Technicians in a workshop or mobile maintenance operation.
  • Previous experience in managing Engineer Managers.
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle engineering, time served ideally with maintenance and repair qualifications to City and Guilds level 3 or equivalent standards.
  • Detailed understanding of workshop management and fleet management within the commercial vehicle and trailer industry.
  • Relationship Management including high levels of influencing & persuasion skills.
  • Strong communications skills: Verbal and numerical skills both written and oral to provide written technical reports and present data to Supplier network and customers
  • Experience of budgetary cost management – able to analyse data and graphs
  • Proven experience to manage suppliers to agreed KPI’s.
  • Flexible attitude to working hours.
  • Fully competent in Computer literacy (Office 365/ Excel/Word/PowerPoint/M3).
  • Highly organised and good discipline in managing a varied and comprehensive workload able to meet deadlines.
