Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Temporary Dam Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance at contracted sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, compliance, and efficient functioning of the dam, including monitoring water levels, inspecting structural integrity, managing maintenance activities, and coordinating with various stakeholders. This role requires a strong background in civil engineering, water management, or a related field, along with excellent leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision of Operations: Oversee daily operations of the dam, including water release, gate operations, and reservoir management to ensure optimal performance and safety
- Inspection and Monitoring: Conduct regular inspections of dam structures, spillways, and related facilities to identify any potential issues or safety concerns
- Maintenance Coordination: Plan and coordinate routine maintenance and repair activities, ensuring all work is conducted in compliance with safety standards and regulations
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans for potential dam-related incidents, including flooding or structural failure
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing dam safety and operations. Prepare and submit required reports and documentation
- Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of maintenance workers, operators, and technical staff, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for communication with regulatory agencies, local authorities, and the community regarding dam operations and safety
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze operational data, monitor water quality, and compile comprehensive reports on dam performance and environmental impact.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Management, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in dam operations, water management, civil construction, or a similar role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in dam safety, water management, or engineering (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE) license, Dam Safety Certification) are preferred
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of dam engineering principles, water management systems, and safety protocols. Familiarity with hydraulic modeling software and SCADA systems is a plus
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and the public
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks, including inspections and emergency response activities, in various weather conditions
